Norman Griffith Oval: Please contact council

Please contact council before their meeting on 19 August to ask that they actively consider returning Norman Griffiths to natural grass (krg@krg.nsw.gov.au).

We want a field that will be a community asset (not just be used for soccer) and that will not have the environmental impacts of synthetic turf.

To help us understand the decision to be made we need to know:

  • the outcome of the independent review of what went wrong with the project
  • the cost of converting the project over to natural turf compared with retaining synthetic turf and the elements and assumptions included in the costings in accordance with the guidelines
  • if synthetic turf is installed: when replaced, how it will be recycled; and that regular testing for PFAS and PFOA be carried out (information is emerging about the risks to human health and ecosystems)
For more information read our latest article, council's summary and the Friends of Norman Griffiths Oval's flyer below.
